The Georgetown University Mock Trial team is a nationally ranked student organization that attends tournaments around the country. Each year we receive a case (alternating between criminal and civil) from the American Mock Trial Association. Students on the team assume roles as lawyers and witnesses and compete against students from other schools in front of judges. Mock Trial is a year-long activity, with non-merit-based invitationals in the fall and Regional and National Tournaments in the spring.
In contrast to many other programs around the country, Georgetown Mock Trial is completely student-run. We write all of our own material, develop our own theories of the case, run our own practices, manage our expenses, and aim to be successful as well. Above all though, we are a group of friends that enjoy spending time together, both in the courtroom and on campus. For many, these lasting friendships are the best part of Mock Trial!
